Teleworking in Panama

The National Assembly of Panama approved project bill 76 which for the first time regulates teleworking in Panama. This new modality to work from home or other premises which are not the employer's offices has been successfully applied in other countries for more than 20 years. With the increase in population and the problematic commuting for many workers that live outside the capital, this initiative would provide advantages for both parties of the labor relationship.

The project law is pending approval by the President and publication in the Official Gazette to be in force. We will have to wait and see if the pursued objectives are accomplished in the next few years.
